The Birth of 1.5 Degree: A Health-Driven Mission
1.5 Degree was born from a dermatologist's visit that led founders Anagh and Vedansh to cut out dairy due to health concerns. Frustrated by the lack of tasty and affordable alternatives, they created 1.5 Degree in 2018, a company dedicated to crafting delicious, plant-based dairy products for a largely lactose-intolerant population.
With a legacy of four generations in food entrepreneurship, they assembled a team of experts to perfect their formulations. Their products, from creamy oat milk to oat-based gelato, blend indulgence and health, offering authentic flavors without compromise.
With its own state-of-the-art R&D lab and manufacturing capabilities, established in partnership with NIFTEM, 1.5 Degree ensures premium, 100% India-made products that support the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Mission.
The Story Behind Our Name: 1.5 Degree
1.5 Degree is named after the United Nations’ mission to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, a critical goal set under the Paris Agreement to avoid the worst impacts of climate change. Although global efforts have reduced the projected temperature rise from a catastrophic 5.5 degrees to 3.5 degrees Celsius, much more needs to be done to reach the 1.5-degree target. Dairy production is responsible for 30% of India's methane emissions, highlighting the urgent need for plant-based alternatives to help achieve sustainability and protect our planet for future generations.
